SAFe 6.0 Enablement FAQs

Updated over a month ago

What do I need to do to teach other SAFe 6.0 courses?
We have a list of prerequisites here:

  • Have an SPC certification

  • Complete the SAFe 6.0 Expert Upgrade Learning Plan and pass the Quiz

  • Complete the enablement for the desired course.

As an SPC 5 with SAFe 5.1 and/or SAFe 5.0 validations, do I need SAFe 6.0 validations as well?
Yes. However, any Validations you had in SAFe 5.1 will not require you to take an exam for SAFe 6.0.

You should have an “Exempt” button next to that exam that, once clicked, will complete your enablement.

When will the enablements and courseware for SAFe 6.0 be available?

We’ll be sure to provide information as more become available.

If I have already purchased courseware for 5.1, do I need to purchase courseware again for 6.0?
Yes. As is the case with purchasing courseware normally, at least one license of the desired type will need to be purchased to gain access to the Courseware. Exchanging your existing licenses does not grant courseware.

Can I transfer my SAFe 5.1 or 5.0 courseware licenses to 6.0?

Yes! We have some further information on how to do this here.

Please note that License Exchanges do not award courseware. You must still purchase at least one license to be awarded the courseware.

Will I still be able to use SAFe 5 courseware?

Yes, at this time, enterprises are still able to teach SAFe 5 courses internally.

Can I still use SAFe 5 materials and collateral?
If you already have this content downloaded, you are able to access it at any time. However, we will not be providing access to the SAFe 5 materials after March 15, 2023.

Agile Software Engineer and SAFe for Government:
We are retiring ASE and S4G as multi-day, instructor-led courses. However, we don’t want to lose their valuable content and learning outcomes. We are researching how to repurpose the course content into new formats for continued learning. Course retirement will coincide with the retirement of version 5 of the Scaled Agile Framework. This means that instructors can continue to teach these courses until we communicate a definitive retirement date.

SAFe Advanced Scrum Master:
We are maintaining the 2-day SASM course but are not planning to update it to SAFe 6.0. Instead, we’re exploring ways to improve and evolve the learning experience. We’ve received clear customer feedback indicating the need for modular learning with a shorter instructor-led experience. To meet this need, we’re designing a path with e-learning and a short facilitated session, which would result in an advanced certificate. We’re currently developing the individual pieces and will be testing them and the full path. We’ll also work on developing a release timeline. A full transition plan will accompany the micro-credential release. We’ll maintain the 5.1 version of SASM, and instructors can continue to teach SASM 5.1 in the foreseeable future. At some point, we will decide if we retire the SASM ILT course, but the timing is TBD, and we will provide a runway for customers to move on this new path.
