When does my certification expire if I am on an SES?
Certifications on an active SES now align with the SES expiration date, so they all renew at the same time. As long as the SES stays active, the certs stay valid.
What happens when the SES expires?
Certifications lapse at the SES expiration date. Studio shows a “Valid only as an active SES learner” tooltip to indicate which certs are SES-conditional.
I’m a Trainer. Why aren’t my certifications co-termed?
Renewals for Experts and AI-Native Trainers are excluded from SES co-terming. Renewals for SPC, Experts and AI Native Trainers are managed separate from the company's SES.
I am on the SES; when do my certifications get renewed?
Certifications renew when they are due to expire. If a learner's certs are currently active, they won't renew when uploaded to the SES. They will renew if the cert expiration hits during the SES term. The renewal will co-term with the SES expiration date.
Do Instructors consume a seat on the SES?
SAFe SPCs Instructors do not consume an SES seat as long as they have a valid SPC certification that is not expired.
An AI-Native Trainer will consume an SES license.
When a user earns an Instructor certification, their SES SAFe role changes to Instructor, and they no longer occupy a learner seat. When the instructor’s cert expires, they revert to a learner and consume a seat again.
Does this change apply to my existing certifications?
Not yet. The new rules apply going forward from the release. Existing certification dates are not retroactively modified until a renewal event happens.
Will my digital badge on Credly update?
Yes, badges continue to sync as before when a cert is earned, renewed, or newly acquired.
What has NOT changed?
Off-SES certifications (earned or renewed without an active SES) still follow the existing 1-year expiration.
Existing certification dates are not touched by this release; new rules apply going forward only.
Digital badge sync (Credly) continues to fire on initial acquisition, cert renewal, and Expired → Acquired status changes.
