I’m an SPC, ASPC, or SPCT. What courses am I allowed to teach?

What Course can I teach?

In 2025, we’re making adjustments to the training policy for SPCs, ASPCs, and SPCTs. We’ll be enforcing this policy in two phases based on certification date—see below for details.

Previously, SPCs were allowed to teach all SAFe courses except for Implementing SAFe and Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant (ASPC). With this policy update, those training privileges remain available if the trainer enablement for the courses is completed by June 1, 2026, as long as the SPC certification remains valid.

Below is a breakdown of which courses each certification level (SPC, ASPC, SPCT) is authorized to teach under the new policy.

ASPC Course Eligibility and Certification Status

  • An active SPC certification is required to earn the ASPC certification.

  • If your SPC has expired and you pass the ASPC exam, the ASPC will appear as pending until you renew through SAFe Expert Membership ($995).

  • If at any time your SPC certification expires, the ability to teach the Advanced courses will only be available if you become ASPC certified.

  • Interested in taking the ASPC course? You can take it with one of our partners, here!

SPCs are authorized to deliver SAFe Foundational and Advanced courses if the trainer enablement plans are completed prior to June 2, 2026. SPCs will also be able to teach all current SAFe micro-credentials.

Advanced SAFe courses, in addition to all current SAFe micro-credentials.

SPCTs have full teaching authorization across the SAFe portfolio, including all foundational and advanced courses, as well as Advanced SPC, Implementing SAFe, and all current SAFe micro-credentials.

This policy will take effect in a couple of stages:

  1. June 4, 2025 – The new policy applies to all individuals certified on or after this date. SPCs certified before June 4, 2025, and are in good standing (not expired) will be able to train the advanced courses as long as the trainer validations have been completed before June 2, 2026, and the SPC certification is active.

  2. June 3, 2026 – The policy applies only to SPCs who have not completed the trainer validations for the Advanced courses. The SPC will need to attend an ASPC course and become certified.
