Scaled Agile’s training policy defines which SAFe courses SPCs, ASPCs, and SPCTs are authorized to teach. Teaching eligibility is based on your current certification level and, where applicable, completion of the required trainer enablements and validations for the courses you wish to teach.
How did the current policy take effect?
The policy was introduced in two stages:
June 4, 2025: The updated policy applied to individuals certified on or after June 4, 2025. SPCs certified before this date who were in good standing could continue to teach Advanced courses if they completed the required trainer enablements and validations within the applicable transition period and maintained an active SPC certification.
June 3, 2026: The policy became applicable to SPCs who had not completed the required trainer enablements for Advanced courses. These SPCs must attend the Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant (ASPC) course and become ASPC certified to teach the applicable Advanced courses.
What is the current policy?
Under the current policy, teaching authorization is based on your certification level and the requirements for the specific course you wish to teach.
The Advanced course portfolio includes:
Agile Product Management (APM)
Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) *
Release Train Engineer (RTE) *
SAFe for Architects (ARCH)
Agile Software Engineering (ASE)
Advanced Scrum Master (SASM)
All of these are classified as Advanced courses. However, LPM and RTE have specific transition requirements for SPCs.
SPCs who completed the required trainer enablement for LPM and RTE before June 3, 2026, and maintain an active SPC certification may continue to teach these courses.
SPCs who did not complete the required LPM or RTE trainer enablement before June 3, 2026, must register for and successfully complete the ASPC course to become ASPC certified before they can teach these courses.

Important
To teach a specific SAFe course, you must complete the trainer enablement or validation requirements. Your required certification must also remain active where specified by the policy.
