What is the CEU requirement for SAFe Certification renewal?

Updated over a month ago

The CEU requirement currently applies only to the SAFe® Scrum Master (SSM) certification. You are required to earn a minimum of 24 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within your two-year certification cycle. This amounts to 12 CEUs annually. This policy is in place to ensure that certified professionals stay current with the evolving knowledge and skills required in the field.

In addition to meeting the CEU requirement, a renewal fee must be paid to extend certification for the next two-year cycle.

You can earn 1 CEU for every hour of relevant professional development or learning activity.

Eligible activities include, but are not limited to:

Instructor-led training or SAFe Studio eLearning modules

Webinars or virtual workshops

Conference attendance and speaking engagements

Reading SAFe Framework Articles and authoring articles or blog posts

SAFe Connect Community Engagement, as well as coaching and volunteering

The continuing education activity is not required to be SAFe-related, but it must be relevant to your role and expertise as a Scrum Master. Eligible topics include the SAFe framework, Lean, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, or other related fields.

Use the following Template to track your Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

To renew your SAFe® Scrum Master (SSM) certification, you'll attest to completing your required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) directly within SAFe Studio at the time of renewal. You are not required to submit individual CEUs, only to confirm that you have met the minimum requirement of 24 CEUs during your two-year certification cycle.
