Continuing Education ensures that your certification remains a meaningful reflection of your current knowledge and skills. By engaging in ongoing learning and professional development, you stay up to date with evolving practices, strengthen your expertise, and demonstrate your commitment to continuous improvement.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are one-hour blocks of time that you invest in your personal growth.
CEUs belong to three categories: Learning, Community, and Professional Application. You are encouraged to complete activities from at least two categories to reinforce your knowledge through both learning and real-world application.
We recommend using a log to keep track of your CEUs and retain documentation for your completed activities. Certification holders may be selected for a CEU audit as part of maintaining the integrity of the program. Any CEUs earned beyond your renewal requirement may be carried forward to your next certification renewal.
Foundational Level Certifications.
SA, SP, ASE, SSM, POPM, SDP require 12 CEUs.
Advanced Level Certifications.
RTE, LPM, APM, ARCH, SASM require 24 CEUs.
Expert Level Certifications.
SPC, ASPC, SPCT require 36 CEUs.
If you have multiple certifications: Each certification requires Continuing Education, and CEU activities count toward all certifications.
For example, you have SAFe Scrum Master (Foundational Level) and SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (Advanced Level). SAFe Scrum Master requires 12 CEUs. SAFe Advanced Scrum Master requires 24 CEUs. You complete 24 CEUs total, which count toward SSM and SASM. The CEU requirements for SSM and SASM are fulfilled.
