General Licenses FAQs

Updated over 9 months ago

What are licenses and how are they used?

Scaled Agile Inc. requires that one license be purchased for every learner who attends the course. It is generally the responsibility of the instructor or instructing organization to purchase licenses on behalf of the learners. Licenses never expire and are not refundable, and can be used at any time.

How are licenses consumed?

When you upload a course roster, a license will be consumed for each learner uploaded. A license will be consumed regardless of whether or not a learner is marked as attended/unattended. If you need to make edits to the roster or remove a learner from the course, you may do so as long as the learner is still marked as unattended. Licenses can be restored by deleting the learner from the roster prior to marking them as attended (SES licenses will not be affected by removing a learner from the course), so if you have marked a learner as attended, and they did not attend the course, a license will still have been consumed.

How do I purchase licenses?

To purchase a license:

  1. Start at the SAFe Studio home page

  2. From the left-hand navigation select Teach & Manage

  3. Click on the "Course Admin" tab

  4. Navigate to the License Management section

  5. Click on "Purchase Licenses"

If you are a Scaled Agile partner, the partner discount is automatically taken off if you have completed the email validation.

Can I exchange my licenses?

If you are an active SPC you can exchange licenses through the Course Admin page:

  1. Login to SAFe Studio

  2. Click on Teach & Manage > Course Admin tab

  3. Navigate to the License Management section

  4. Click the Exchange Licenses button

IMPORTANT: Courseware is not awarded for an exchanged license. You still must purchase at least one license to be awarded the courseware.

NOTE: 2 day course licenses can only be exchanged for other 2 day course licenses, 3 day course licenses can only be exchanged for other 3 day course licenses etc.
