SAFe Single Sign-On (SSO) FAQs

Updated over 8 months ago

What is Single Sign-On (SSO), and how does it work?
Single Sign-On (SSO) allows a user to use one username and password to access multiple applications, including SAFe Studio and piplanning.io. After logging in once, you’re authenticated across all integrated systems without needing to log in again.

How does SSO enhance security?

  • Reduces the number of passwords users need to remember, which decreases the likelihood of password reuse across platforms.

  • Allows for more robust authentication methods, such as multi-factor authentication, to be centralized and more consistently applied.

  • Simplifies the monitoring and management of user access, making it easier to identify and respond to suspicious activities.

Can SAFe digital products be integrated with a customer's existing SSO provider?
Yes, SAFe digital products can be integrated into an existing SSO provider (e.g. JumpCloud).

Can SSO support compliance with data protection regulations?
Yes, centralizing user authentication and access control helps maintain a high level of security and auditability, which are critical for compliance.

Can a customer's employees have access to their SAFe certifications and learnings if they leave the company?
Yes, if the employee has a personal email linked to their SAFe Studio account and their company access is deactivated, they can still access their certifications and some learning materials. They will have the option to pay for membership to SAFe Studio directly.

If a customer does not have an SSO provider, can they still use the SAFe SSO capability to access SAFe Studio and piplanning.io?
Customers must have an SSO provider before they can implement SAFe's SSO capability.

What SAFe applications are SSO capable?

  1. SAFe Studio (includes CoFund and Collaborate)

Note: These two applications have separate SSO integrations and are accessed independently on a user's screen.

How can my organization sign up for SSO?
The SSO functionality is currently only available to accounts with an active SAFe Enterprise Subscription (SES). To learn more about getting one, you will want to visit this page here: https://scaledagile.com/business-solutions/safe-enterprise/ or discuss getting an SES with your Scaled Agile Account Manager.

If I'm a member of an SES, will I have to log in with SSO to access my personal account?
If you have two separate accounts today (two separate usernames and passwords), you will be able to log in with SSO for the one associated to your organization's SES and personal credentials to log in to the account not associated to your organization's SES. But if you only have one username and password today, you will have to log in with SSO to access SAFe Studio.

Once my organization starts using SSO for SAFe Studio, can I log into SAFe Studio using SSO on a personal device?
You can log into SAFe Studio with SSO on any device where your organization's security policies allow SSO logins.
