Q: What is it?
A: Launching AI-Native ARTs is a two-day certification course for leaders who run an Agile Release Train (ART) and need to evolve it for AI-driven experimentation and automation. You'll assess your organization with the built-in AI-Native ART Launch Readiness Assessment, apply the 12 critical success factors of AI-Native SAFe®, and work with your class to build a plan to launch a new AI-Native ART or relaunch an existing one. The course also covers outcome-driven delivery and shared AI governance, and it's initially available in English, with additional languages planned.
Q: How is this course different from other AI-Native courses?
A: Launching AI-Native ARTs is an AI-Native SAFe course. It's designed for people with SAFe experience who are ready to evolve their implementation so that AI is deeply built into their work and how that work is coordinated. Within AI-Native SAFe, AI-Native SAFe Fundamentals is a one-day course that builds general fluency with AI-Native SAFe concepts, while Launching AI-Native ARTs is a two-day course where you build an actual launch plan for your ART.
AI-Native courses, such as AI-Native Foundations, are designed for people and organizations that aren't using SAFe or have limited SAFe experience. These courses teach how to build AI deeply into work and its coordination without reference to SAFe.
Q: Who is the course for?
A: The course is designed for leaders and change leaders who guide an AI-driven ART and want measurable returns on their organization's AI investments. Key roles include:
SAFe Practice Consultants (SPCs) - Guide organizations through launching or relaunching AI-Native ARTs
Release Train Engineers (RTEs) - Coordinate cross-team AI workflows and system-level governance
Product Managers - Align product vision and roadmaps with AI capabilities
Agile leaders - Guide organizational change and champion responsible AI safeguards
Scrum Masters, Business Owners, coaches, and others who support an ART through its move to AI-Native SAFe can also benefit. There are no required prerequisite courses or materials before attending. The course is designed for people with SAFe experience, and while it isn't required, we recommend completing the AI-Native SAFe Upgrade first.
Q: How much does the course cost?
A: The suggested retail price is $1,695 USD. Pricing varies by provider, so visit the training calendar to find a class that fits your budget, schedule, language, and preferred delivery method.
Q: Is the course virtual or in person?
A: Both options are available, depending on the class. Use the delivery method filter on the training calendar to find a virtual or in-person class.
Q: What if I want to register multiple people to the class?
A: For classes taught by Scaled Agile, Inc., contact our support team to coordinate group registration. Requests are reviewed case by case. For classes taught by a partner, contact the partner, since group registration follows their policies.
To train a larger group, consider a private class for your organization. Our global partner network delivers private SAFe training that can be scheduled around your team's needs. Use the Partner Finder to connect with a partner who offers private training.
Q: Is this course included in the SAFe Enterprise Subscription?
A: Yes. Launching AI-Native ARTs is included in the SAFe Enterprise Subscription (SES), and each attendee uses one SES seat. To learn more about the subscription, see the SAFe Enterprise Subscription (SES) FAQs.
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: Refund policies vary by provider, so contact your instructor or the organization running your class. For classes taught by Scaled Agile, Inc., the policy is:
More than 14 days before the start date - Full refund, minus a $150 processing charge
8 – 14 days before the start date - Transfer to a course of equal or lesser value
7 days or less before the start date - No refunds or changes
Q: Can I transfer my seat to someone else?
A: Seat transfers are reviewed case by case. For classes taught by Scaled Agile, Inc., contact our support team. For classes taught by a partner, contact the partner, since transfers follow their policies.
Q: How do I access the course materials?
A: Once your instructor adds you to the class roster, you'll receive an email notification. You can then open your course materials through your Learning Plan in SAFe Studio™ at studio.scaledagile.com. Instructors set their own rostering timelines, so check with yours about when to expect access. For classes taught by Scaled Agile, we typically roster learners seven days before class so you have time to review preparation materials and get familiar with the platform.
Q: Do I need to complete any pre-work before class?
A: There is no required pre-work. Your instructor may suggest articles or materials to review before the first day of class and will share them with you as needed.
Q: How long do I have access to the course materials?
A: You keep access to your Learning Plan and course materials after you attend the class, for as long as the course is active. If the course is retired, its Learning Plan is removed. The exam has a 60-day deadline.
Q: What do I earn?
A: When you pass the exam, you earn the foundational-level AI-Native ART Leader certification and a digital badge. You take the exam through your Learning Plan after class. Your first two attempts are included, and each retake costs $50. All attempts must be completed within 60 days after your class ends. For the exam format, passing score, practice test, and retake schedule, see the Launching AI-Native ARTs Exam Study Guide.
Your certification includes your first year of SAFe membership, which gives you access to:
SAFe community forums, networking circles, and webinars
Framework articles, the SAFe Skills Library, and recorded SAFe Summit content
SAFe CoPilot, role-specific training videos, and PI Planning toolkits
Q: Can I take the exam without attending the course?
A: No. You must attend the full course to be eligible for the AI-Native ART Leader exam. To learn more, see General Exam FAQs.
Q: Can I get an exam extension or accommodation?
A: Exam extensions aren't available. If you need a testing accommodation, requests are reviewed case by case. To learn more and submit a request, see Can I Get an Accommodation for my Exam?
Q: How do I get and share my digital badge?
A: After you pass the exam, you'll receive an email from Credly, our digital badge provider, inviting you to accept your AI-Native ART Leader badge. Make sure your privacy preferences in SAFe Studio allow badge sharing. Once you accept your badge, you can share it on LinkedIn and other social platforms. To learn more, see General Digital Badge FAQs.
Q: How do I renew my certification?
A: Your first year of membership is included with certification. To keep your certification active and continue your membership benefits, renew at the SAFe Foundational tier for $195 USD per year, plus applicable tax.
Q: I hold other SAFe certifications. Will I pay more than one renewal?
A: No. You renew at the tier of your highest certification, and that renewal covers all of your certifications at that tier and below, including AI-Native ART Leader. For example, if you hold an Advanced certification, your Advanced renewal also renews your AI-Native ART Leader certification. To learn more, see What are Scaled Agile's Certification tiers for Studio?
