General piplanning.io and Rally FAQs

Updated over 9 months ago

Rally

In this guide, you will learn how to create application links in Rally.

1. Click "ALM Connections"

Click 'ALM Connections'

2. Click "Add new ALM Connection" and select Rally

3. On this page you'll need to input a few pieces of information.

  • First you will want a "Connection Name", this is a general name for the entire connection.

  • Next is "Instance URL" this is the standard Rally URL (https://rally1.rallydev.com for the United States)

  • Lastly you will need to input an API key that is generated from within Rally under "My Settings -> API Keys". This will link the piplanning instance you've created to Rally under your users API Key.

4. After you click the "Check Login & Save" button you will be brought to the "Workspace" (section 2 in the above screenshot) and here you will select the Rally workspace you want this connection to reference from a list of Workspaces available to your Rally user that generated the API key. Once that is done you can click "Next" to proceed to the "Webhook" section.

5. In the "Webhook" section if you are a subscription admin in Rally, you will be able to create a new Webhook in Rally (You can still create a piplanning.io integration if you are not a Rally Subscription admin, however some functionality will be limited). Creating a Webhook in Rally can be done under the "Extensions -> Webhooks" section. Once you are done with this step, click the "Next" button to go to the "Team Mapping" Section.

6. In the "Team Mapping" section you will need to manually map each of the Rally teams that will be using this piplanning.io integration so that information can be shared across both platforms (this can take some time, depending on the number of teams, as such we recommend having ample time available to do so).

7. In the "ART Mapping" section you will need to manually map each of the Rally ARTs that will be using this piplanning.io integration so that information can be shared across both platforms, as was also mentioned above in step 6, this can take some time and we strongly recommend having ample time available.
